Ready to take your PR & Communications career to the next level? Enrol for APR 2027

You’ve built your experience, managed projects, advised clients or stakeholders, and navigated the challenges that come with working in public relations and communications. But how do you demonstrate the depth of your expertise, strengthen your strategic capability and gain recognition for the professional you’ve become?

The PRINZ Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) programme offers an opportunity to do just that.

Designed for experienced practitioners, APR is a professional accreditation that recognises the breadth of your knowledge, practical experience and ethical judgement across the public relations and communications management profession. It’s an opportunity to step back from the day-to-day, reflect on your mahi, and demonstrate how you apply your skills and expertise in practice.

Is APR the right next step for you?

PRINZ recommends APR for practitioners with at least five to eight years’ experience specifically in public relations and communications management, who have managed people and/or projects. As a guide, candidates should be working at or above communication adviser level in-house or account manager level in a consultancy.

APR isn’t a course that simply teaches you the basics. It’s an accreditation programme that asks you to demonstrate what you know, how you apply it and the professional judgement behind your decisions.

Through case studies, written assignments and examination, you’ll have the opportunity to connect your practical experience with established best practice, deepen your understanding of the profession and strengthen your confidence as a communications professional.

And the benefits can extend well beyond the programme itself.

Building confidence, capability and credibility

Feedback from APR participants highlights the value of taking the time to invest in their professional development.

One participant reflected on how the programme reinforced their understanding of PR and communications while highlighting the importance of adapting to an evolving industry:

“It has highlighted the importance of continuously adapting to changing trends and expectations, ensuring that as communications professionals, we remain effective, relevant, and able to deliver real impact through our work.”

For another, the programme helped turn instinct and experience into something more tangible:

“My confidence in my capability, which is deeper than my intuition, my capabilities are now grounded in world class best practice.”

And for one participant, APR was impactful in their career progression:

“The course was incredibly helpful in building my confidence and supported a change in mindset around my abilities, leading to a promotion.”

Alongside strengthening individual capability, APR provides an opportunity to connect with other experienced practitioners, share perspectives and learn from the breadth of experience across the profession.

What does the APR commitment look like?

The six-month programme runs from May to October 2027 and typically requires a commitment of 50 to 60 hours. This includes seminar attendance, coursework comprising three written assignments, and examinations.

On successful completion, accredited practitioners are entitled to use the postnominal APR, recognising their achievement and professional standing.

It’s a commitment, but one that offers the opportunity to invest in yourself, your career and the contribution you make to the profession.

Make 2027 the year you take that step

If you have five to eight or more years of experience in PR and communications, and you’re ready to build on what you’ve achieved, APR could be the next milestone in your professional journey.
