New Measures Increase Lobbying Transparency

Following is a statement from PRINZ, the organisation representing PR and
Communications professionals in Aotearoa New Zealand, on the Government’s
proposed reforms around lobbyists:

“As the main body for PR and Communications professionals in Aotearoa we welcome
transparency in all interactions between our members, our clients, employers and
stakeholders. We promote the views of those we represent to contribute to public
debate and informed decision-making in a democratic society.

The primary obligation of membership to our institute is the ethical practice of
communications management and we’d encourage those engaging PR and
communications professionals, including lobbyists, to work with those who have signed
our code of ethics.”

“As the representative organisation, we’d welcome an opportunity to contribute to any
review.” Chair, Heather Claycomb APR FPRINZ
