Tēnā tātou katoa!

Nau mai e te wiki o tō tātou kuru pounamu, arā, ko Te Wiki o te Reo Māori!

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori | Māori Language Week is an annual celebration for all New Zealanders to show their support for our taonga which is also one of two official languages of this country. The other being NZ Sign Language.

This year’s theme is ‘Ake ake ake – A Forever Language’. It represents the resilience, adaptability and endurance of te reo Māori. It also reflects the commitment New Zealanders have to embracing and learning this taonga long into the future.

Te Wiki 2024 will kick off on Saturday 14 September, which aligns with the 52nd anniversary of the presentation of Te Petihana Reo Māori | the Māori Language Petition to Parliament in 1972, and finishes on 21 September.
