25 Years at Celebrity Speakers: Louise Ryburn’s Journey Through Every Role, Every Shift, Every Change

Twenty‑five years is a long time in any business – especially when you still feel like you’re only 30.

In an industry defined by constant evolution, longevity is rare. This year, Celebrity Speakers marks a milestone worth celebrating: 25 years of Louise Ryburn, a career that has grown in step with the speakers industry itself.

Louise joined Celebrity Speakers as a coordinator, right in the engine room of the business. Over the years, she moved through sales and leadership roles before stepping into General Manager and ultimately Managing Director, experiencing every function, every pressure point, and every shift along the way.

“I was so excited to join Celebrity Speakers – an industry I knew absolutely nothing about as a new graduate,” Louise recalls. “But from day one, I felt an enormous sense of pride. Within my first two weeks, I attended two events and saw three speakers who had me laughing, crying, and completely inspired. I was hooked. I knew it would be impossible to do anything else.”

Starting as a coordinator meant learning fast. Logistics, relationships, problem‑solving, and delivering speakers into real‑world events where outcomes genuinely mattered.

“It taught me precision, resilience, and calm under pressure,” Louise says. “We’re dealing with people, and things can, and do, happen. But with strong processes, a clear purpose, and a lot of care and empathy, you can move quickly and still do things well.”

It was here that Louise formed a belief that still sits at the heart of her leadership today: the right speaker can make or break an event and most importantly change lives!

As she moved into sales, that belief deepened. It was never just about bookings.

“Our product is people,” she explains. “That means we have to be exceptional communicators, open‑minded, empathetic, and willing to see every perspective. Not everything can be perfect – but everything can be handled with care.”

Over 25 years, Louise has witnessed the speakers industry transform – from faxed contracts and posted agreements to digital delivery, virtual stages, and hybrid experiences. She’s navigated global expansion, shifting audience expectations, economic cycles, and moments that reshaped live events forever.

One moment, however, defined her leadership more than any other.

At just 26, Louise and the team lost Celebrity Speakers founder Debbie Tawse.

“Debbie left me the greatest gifts,” Louise reflects. “Integrity. The power of someone truly believing in you. And an unfathomable passion for what speakers can do. That belief has carried me through every high and low.”

“We sit at the sharp end of economic forces. We feel it first when things slow, and we boom when times are good. So how do you survive? Relationships. Human connection. And the power of stories to change lives. That always wins – no matter the technology, or even a pandemic.”

By the time Louise stepped into the Managing Director role, she brought something rare: a complete, end‑to‑end understanding of the business. She knew what coordinators need to succeed, how consultants support clients under pressure, and why empathy and trust are everything.

That perspective has shaped Celebrity Speakers into the business it is today – one built on integrity, long‑term relationships, and meaningful impact over quick wins.

No 25‑year career is without challenge. Louise has navigated disruption, uncertainty, and moments when the future of events looked very different to anything imagined. But the rewards have been equally powerful.

“I’m still completely moved when we receive feedback about how a speaker impacted an audience,” she says. “It gets me every time. That’s why I know I’ll do this forever. I don’t ever want to stop being part of that change.”

For Louise, success has never been about volume.

It’s about impact.

In an industry that never stands still, longevity isn’t accidental. It’s built on adaptability, care, and staying true to why you exist in the first place.

At Celebrity Speakers, that purpose is clear: we believe in the power of stories to drive positive change.

Twenty‑five years on, the story is still being written.
