In the first segment of our PRINZ Gold Award webinar series, we hear from Development West Coast on their Gold award-winning campaign “West Coast Wikipedian At Large”.

At the 2024 PRINZ Awards Gala Dinner, Development West Coast was recognised for their excellence in Public Relations and Communications in the Most Innovative Campaign category. In this webinar, they will share valuable insights about their campaign and how they went about the submission process to make sure their hard work and outreach was recognised. This series is free of charge for members and will be held online from 12pm to 1.30pm on the 13th of November.

Your presenter is:

Aaron Rees

Aaron is the Marketing and Communications Manager for Development West Coast – a charitable trust tasked with promoting sustainable employment opportunities; and generating sustainable economic benefits for the West Coast region.

Aaron grew up on the West Coast and has an academic background in Development Studies. While running a start-up business in India he discovered the power and importance of communications, and forming good media relations.

Moving back to the West Coast after 20 years, Aaron has a passion for showcasing the region as a great place to work, live and play.

Dr Mike Dickison

Mike Dickison (www.rove.wiki) is a freelance Wikipedia consultant. He did his PhD at Duke on the evolution of flightless birds and was a museum curator in Whanganui before becoming a roving Wikipedia ambassador – a Wikipedian at Large, funded by the US-based Wikimedia Foundation – over 2018–2019. Since then he’s worked with Development West Coast, the University of Otago, New Zealand Opera, and five National Science Challenges to improve the visibility of people, places, and things on Wikipedia. After living in Hokitika for three years he is now based in Christchurch, and has just finished a six-month stint as Aotearoa Wikipedian at Large.
