Overview

Come along to this fast-paced and practical learning event where you’ll get to pose some of your burning internal communications questions to our expert panel.

The session will be kicked off by Ron Murray, senior account director at Wright Communications.  Ron is a regular PRINZ course tutor and recognised expert in the field of internal communications, having written a guide to the subject in 2018 which went to a second edition last year.  A trained English teacher, journalist and marketer, he has more than 30 years’ corporate communications management and consulting experience across a wide range of organisations including Coopers & Lybrand, the former Midland Regional Health Authority, South Auckland Health, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Siemens NZ Ltd and KiwiRail.

Joining Ron on the ‘clinic’ panel will be a range of Waikato- based internal communications experts. Panellists include:

  • Jenna Waite-Leonard, Communications and Digital Experience Manager at Toi Ohomai
  • Nicole Nooyen, Head of Communications and Engagement at Hamilton City Council
  • Glenn Forster, General Manager at McCaw Lewis
  • Marie Simpson, Network Engagement and Communication Director at Pinnacle

Each registrant will be sent a survey ahead of the event, allowing you to pose a specific question to the panel.  Everyone’s question will be answered – either at the event or in writing afterward.

Presenter

Ron Murray

A trained journalist and marketer whose writing skills are anchored in a first career as an English teacher, Ron has compiled a rich dossier of experience across more than 25 years in public relations and corporate communications management.

In that time he has developed a strong set of communications capabilities including corporate and marketing communications, relationship, sponsorship and publications management, media and government relations and internal communications.  He has brought his skills and knowledge to both agency and in-house communications roles, in the private and public sectors for clients in Health, Pharmaceuticals, Forestry, Banking, Technology, Transport, Professional Services, Energy, Computing and the Not-for-Profit sector.

Ron’s experience includes communications management roles with KiwiRail, Siemens (NZ) Ltd, Merck Sharp & Dohme, GlaxoSmithKline and Counties Manukau DHB.  His consulting ethos is the importance of clearly understanding his clients’ communications needs, goals and priorities, and bringing all the weapons in his armoury to bear on meeting them.

Outside his working life, Ron enjoys time with his family, dabbles in music, surfs occasionally, reads voraciously, and turns some of New Zealand’s most beautiful timbers to unwind.
