Claire Sherwood, News Director and Newsreader for the South Island
Claire Sherwood is a senior journalist, leading the Newstalk ZB South Island news team in Christchurch. She is news director, sub-editor and newsreader for the South Island. You can hear her in the news updates on Newstalk ZB weekdays, from 6am until midday. Claire returned to NZME newsrooms in 2021, after spending the best part of a decade in Australian radio newsrooms.
Blair Norton, 1News Southern Bureau Editor
Blair was a trained PE teacher before travelling overseas in his early 20s. He returned to study exercise prescription at the University of Otago before jumping sideways to journalism though the NZ Broadcasting school in his late 20s.
He started his journalism career at CTV and Prime TV in the early 2000s before finding a home at TVNZ in 2004, where he’s held positions as a News Journalist, Sport Journalist, Content Producer, Christchurch Producer and, most recently, Southern Bureau Editor since 2019.
