Overview

PR Horizons – Get Ready and Get Ahead

We’re past the midway point in our pandemic decade and, as we move into 2026, most practitioners are trying hard to recover from 2025. But amid the chaos, it’s imperative that we pause, look up and prepare for all that’s coming our way. Changes are arriving faster than most can properly absorb. If we are going to manage this period and help our organisations navigate uncertainty and upheaval, taking time out to pause and learn is critical. This year’s PR Horizons series is designed to help you stop, look up and take in what is happening around us in a practical, grounded way that equips you to do your job with confidence, credibility and sound ethical judgement.

Across three morning sessions, we examine what is shifting across risk, technology, public behaviour, misinformation, search and stakeholder expectations. We set those shifts against real organisational contexts and decision-making environments. We look at what is changing structurally in public relations practice including changes that shake the foundations of the jobs we do.

PR Horizons from PR Knowledge Hub is about understanding the current conditions and the ones forming around you. It is about recognising what has already moved, what is still moving and what that means for the way that you advise, plan, respond and lead. Designed for practitioners at all stages, from senior leaders through to those newer to the profession – PR Horizons is for everyone who knows that staying still is no longer an option.

Over three mornings, we will consider:

  • Global and national risk environment for 2026 and what that means for organisational
    reputation
  • Artificial intelligence as a structural change to communication and public relations practice
  • The next phase of misinformation and the implications for trust, reputation and behaviour –
with an eye on election year here in Aotearoa.
  • How the shift in AI search and discovery is affecting visibility, influence – and truth
  • The changing landscape of stakeholder expectations and growing demand for authentic
    engagement.
  • What all this means for leadership communication in 2026

Join us as we look up, look beyond the PR Horizon and get ready for what’s ahead.
