Human Focus Consulting: Introduction to Mastering Tough Conversations and Effective Feedback

In this immersive workshop for leaders and professionals, we’ll dive into the essentials of having tough conversations and providing effective feedback. Learn why these skills matter, common challenges, and practical techniques to improve your communication and leadership skills and foster positive relationships. On either side of this one-hour workshop, there will be an opportunity to mingle, have a tea/coffee and ask some post-session questions.

Tough Conversations: Why We Don’t Like Them and Why They Matter

What is Effective Feedback and Why Is It Important?

  • Defining effective feedback and its characteristics
  • The role of feedback in personal and professional development
  • The impact of feedback on team performance and organisational success

Three Types of Feedback

The Effective Feedback Model/Tool

  • Introducing a structured approach to delivering feedback

Activity: Giving Feedback to a Team Member/Client

  • A brief role-playing scenario to practice delivering feedback in different contexts

Moving Forward: Planning How to Incorporate Learnings

  • Developing a personal action plan to apply the workshop content
  • Discussion of key takeaways and challenges / thoughts / questions
  • Wrap Up and Close

Frances Bearne, Founder and Director of Human Focus Consulting 

Frances has built a career based on her passion for building high-performing, constructive, diverse, and inclusive cultures through the coaching and development of people.

With over 20 years’ experience working in house at some of NZ’s leading organisations including Freightways, Fisher and Paykel Healthcare and the Financial Markets Authority, then as Founder and Director of Human Focus Consulting – Frances has transformed numerous organisations’ leadership teams and people programmes across a range of industries, including freight and logistics, engineering, finance, government, professional services, technology and research and development.

 

Frances applies a fresh and human approach towards coaching. She thrives on creating value for businesses and people through a transparent, honest, and values-led approach. Her down-to-earth, authentic, and empathetic style means she also has the unique ability to connect and influence across all levels of a company – from CEOs and senior leaders through to all other roles.

Frances is an internationally certified coach (International Coaching Community – ICC), an ICC trained Team coach, conflict management coach (Australian and New Zealand Resolution Institute) and is accredited in Hogan Assessment Systems and other psychometric and people tools.

Using her in-depth experience and coaching expertise, Frances’ coaching focus is on working with clients and teams in a trusting and confidential environment, helping them become the best leaders and teams they can be, inside and outside of work. Working with high potential and emerging leaders through to senior leaders, CEOs, and business owners, she is a specialist in executive coaching, leadership development, high performance team coaching, talent management and career coaching, focusing on helping leaders, teams and individuals find and clarify their purpose and make long-lasting change.
