Designed to help you understand what it really takes to make people shine on air — whether that’s you, or the clients, leaders, and spokespeople you’re responsible for preparing for media interviews.
Facilitated by award-winning broadcaster Mary Lambie and held at TVNZ studio, this immersive experience gives you first-hand insight into the realities of broadcast interviews: the pressure, the pace, and what separates a solid appearance from a standout one.
Strictly limited to 4 participants, this is an intimate, hands-on course with real time on camera and behind the microphone.

What’s it really like to be interviewed?
As a PR and communications professional, you regularly put others in front of journalists — often at speed, under pressure, and with a lot at stake. If you’re a spokesperson, you’re the one expected to deliver clearly and credibly when it matters most.
This course gives you the chance to experience exactly what that feels like.
By stepping into the media hot seat yourself, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the demands of broadcast media — and the practical skills to prepare clients and senior leaders with clarity, confidence, and credibility. You’ll also build the capability to front the media on behalf of your own organisation when required.
With a general election approaching and media cycles moving faster than ever, this workshop is designed to strengthen on-air performance — for you and for those you guide and prepare for media engagement — ensuring everyone is composed, credible, and ready when scrutiny is highest.

- Real on-air TV and radio interviews
- Performing at your best in front of a camera and microphone
- Understanding the pressure of being “live”
- Handling difficult questions — and tricky journalists
- Preparing your clients or senior leaders for broadcast media, from messaging and delivery to presence and presentation
At the end of the session, you’ll receive a link to all your recorded TV and radio interviews for review and learning.

Mary Lambie, Socius Media Ltd
Mary is the Managing Director of Socius Media – an executive media training company. For the past decade Mary has been training CEO’s, politicians and PR professionals.
Mary has had over 30 years experience in the media. She became a television fixture back in the 90’s as the face of the long-running TVONE show ‘Good Morning’. As a journalist, she has worked as a foreign correspondent plus radio and TV producer and presenter.
Mary is PRINZ APR accredited.
