Overview
The webinar will focus on challenges to the integrity of our information ecosystem – if we can no longer trust the veracity of information, what can we trust? Dr. Andrew Chen will discuss a case study, the characteristics of misinformation and why it spreads, and some simple concepts that can help us collectively identify and resist misinformation.

Dr. Andrew Chen, Adjunct Senior Research Fellow with Koi Tū: The Centre for Informed Futures at Waipapa Taumata Rau: The University of Auckland.
Andrew has a background in computer engineering and AI. His academic work has focused on technology ethics, particularly use in the public sector. He has worked on digital contact tracing through the COVID-19 pandemic, facial recognition use by NZ Police, issues of social cohesion and societal resilience, and understanding the implementation of the Algorithm Charter.
