SUMMARY:From Specialist to Strategic Leader
DESCRIPTION:1st & 8th September 2026 @ 9:30am – 12:30pm (2x morning sessions)\n \nOverview \nThe real test of stepping into broader leadership is not the new title. It is whether you can hold the leadership line when pressure rises\, expectations increase and others still see you as the specialist they already know. \nPR and communications professionals are being asked to lead in a very different environment. Expectations are higher. Resources are tighter. Middle layers are thinner. Scrutiny is sharper. And the margin for leadership misalignment is smaller. \nMany practitioners are promoted because they are excellent specialists. But broader leadership requires more than technical credibility. It requires earning your leadership licence to operate – a conscious shift in how you see yourself\, how others experience you\, how you hold pressure and how you influence the organisational environment around you. \nFrom Specialist to Strategic Leader is a practical two-part online workshop for PR and communications professionals stepping up into broader responsibility. It helps you build the architecture underneath your leadership so it holds under pressure\, expands as your role grows and lasts. And when it drifts\, you can find your own way back to your leadership line. \nAcross two interactive sessions\, you’ll explore the kind of leader you’re becoming\, how to hold under pressure without over-functioning\, how you’re currently seen by others and how to map the stakeholders\, expectations and alignment gaps shaping your environment. \nYou’ll leave with practical tools\, sharper self-awareness and a focused 30-day leadership plan to strengthen your confidence\, influence and impact\, without burning out or being pulled back into specialist delivery. \nIf you’re preparing for that move\, newly stepping into it\, or already feeling the stretch of broader leadership responsibility\, this workshop is designed for you. \nStep up with clarity\, resilience and influence – without burning out. \nIntroducing Your Experts\nLindsey Brittain\, Director\, Turas Consulting & Coaching Limited \nEvery strategy drifts once the work starts. Lindsey Brittain builds the architecture underneath it so leadership holds under pressure\, expands as responsibility grows and lasts. \nThe founder of Turas and creator of the True North Leadership Architecture™\, Lindsey spent 26 years in senior Marketing\, Communications and business leadership across the UK and New Zealand\,  leading teams\, functions and major transformation work in corporate\, public sector and not-for-profit environments. She understands first-hand the shift from specialist expertise to broader leadership influence and the challenge of earning credibility where Marketing\, PR and Communications can still be seen as delivery support rather than a strategic leadership function. \nThat experience led her to build a practical leadership architecture anchored in identity and aligned with strategy and resilience\, designed to hold rather than fragment when pressure hits. A Master Trainer and accredited Training Partner for ANZCAL (the Australia and New Zealand Coaching Alliance)\, and a Business Mentor\, Lindsey designed From Specialist to Strategic Leader for the moment a PR and comms professional’s title changes but their leadership licence hasn’t yet caught up\, helping them step up with clarity\, resilience and influence without burning out. \nWebsite  LinkedIn lindseybrittain@turas.co.nz

SUMMARY:Introduction to Public Relations

SUMMARY:The Inside Scoop: Strategic Internal Comms for Your Organisation
DESCRIPTION:9th September @ 9:00am – 12:30pm & 16th September 2026 @ 9:00am – 12:00pm\n (2 morning sessions + 2x 1:1 sessions)\n \nOverview\nDone well\, internal comms is one of the most strategic levers an organisation has. It connects people to purpose\, shapes culture\, and helps employees connect to each other and understand how their work fits into the wider business. \nBut too often it’s treated as a postal service – the person (or team\, if you’re lucky) people call when they realise “we need to wrap some comms around that”! \nThis course is designed for practitioners at any level who want to move beyond distribution and into a more strategic\, people-centred practice. Across two practical workshops and 1:1 sessions you’ll learn to leverage (and tame!) all the channels available to you\, understand your audiences\, and design communication that supports alignment and connection. \nWe’ll cover: \n\nStrategic capability – positioning internal comms as a strategic advisory function by linking communication work directly to organisational and people goals\nUnderstanding people and audiences – analysing different employee groups and tailoring communication to their needs and context\nChannels and noise – auditing and organising your channels to reduce noise and create a cleaner\, more predictable communication system\nLeadership and influence – working effectively with key leaders and teams (hello HR and IT!)\nMeasurement and value – demonstrating the value of internal comms by reporting insights that help leaders make better decisions\n\nThe essence of strategy is making the best moves with limited resources so this course is also designed to ensure you walk away feeling encouraged rather than deflated – you don’t need a massive budget or a small army to get things done! (Ironically\, having both of those can sometimes make you less strategic because you have fewer constraints.) \nTo personalise this unique learning opportunity\, your investment includes: \n\n Pre-course 1:1 (45 minutes)A conversation to understand your context (organisation\, challenges\, stakeholders) and goals for the course\, ensuring a learning experience that is tailored rather than ‘one size fits all’.\n Two live online workshops (6.5 hours total)Practical\, interactive\, and scenario-based sessions covering strategy\, channels\, audiences\, leadership\, storytelling\, and measurement.\n Post-course 1:1 (60 minutes)A coaching and mentoring session to help you apply your learning\, troubleshoot challenges\, and support real-world application.\nAn Emotional Culture Deck\n\nPlease note that ticket sales close on Friday 31st August 2026 at 5pm to allow time for the pre-course 1:1. \nYour facilitator is..\nKathryn Ruge\, APR\nKathryn is an experienced communications leader and strategist specialising in internal communication\, organisational change\, and the human dynamics that shape how people engage with information – and each other! – at work. She has led internal communications functions in both the private and public sectors and has supported organisations as a consultant and contractor through complex\, organisation-wide change. \n  \nWith more than 25 years’ experience across frontline\, senior leadership\, and governance roles\, Kathryn brings a practical\, people-centred approach to communication that strengthens trust\, reduces friction\, and helps teams navigate uncertainty. She has developed internal communication strategies for large\, multi-site organisations\, advised executives through high-stakes transitions\, and coached leaders to communicate with confidence. \n  \nKathryn is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and the founder of Engaging People\, a consultancy focused on helping leaders communicate well\, understand culture\, and manage change. A life-long learner\, she has an extensive collection of industry-related qualifications and certifications and is currently completing a Masters in Neuroscience and Psychology through King’s College London alongside becoming an Associate Certified Coach with ICF (International Coaching Federation).
