He did his PhD at Duke on the evolution of flightless birds and was a museum curator in Whanganui before becoming a roving Wikipedia ambassador – a Wikipedian at Large\, funded by the US-based Wikimedia Foundation – over 2018–2019. Since then he’s worked with Development West Coast\, the University of Otago\, New Zealand Opera\, and five National Science Challenges to improve the visibility of people\, places\, and things on Wikipedia. After living in Hokitika for three years he is now based in Christchurch\, and has just finished a six-month stint as Aotearoa Wikipedian at Large.
